Warning: Vampires in your Inbox

Ainsley James Books

May 11th 2026

Hey Reader,

Welcome back to another edition of my newsletter. I've been incredibly busy writing, dreaming, and journaling new ideas recently, and I can't wait to share what's been going on with all of you.

Title Reveal

ICYMI: The High Prince Duology, Book 1, has a name!!

Tempted by the Vampire Prince

And, oh how tempted Cora will be! This book as been such a joy to work on for so many reasons. The characters are so different from Bastien + Claire, and so is their relationship. But at the same time, they are so much alike.

The biggest change for me is the setting. After spending a long time in the cold mountains surrounding the Lawless Lands and Chateau Rose, I'm loving being in the warm, seaside climate of Valemer. In this book, expect much more interaction with the area around Yves's chateau than you did in Fated and Sworn.

What you can expect from this book:

The same swoony tension you found in The Vampire Prince Duology, but with different tropes, and a very different conflict between the leads. However, because I love forbidden love so much, you will also get that too.

Bottom line, you will get to fall in love with two new characters, while still staying in the Sanguineverse. (Which means interacting with characters...and problems, from the first duology.)

WIP Wednesday & Side-Piece Saturday

WIP Wednesdays are my day to give sneak peeks, BTS, reveals, etc about Tempted to the Vampire Prince. This Wednesday (May 13th) at 9 am EST, I'll be doing a trope reveal inside my discord group. I have a trope word search that I'll be dropping into the chat for everyone to solve!

If you want to join my discord, it's open to anyone! You can grab the link here.

The trope reveal on IG will be on Friday, May 15th.

Side-Piece Saturdays are where I talk about the book I'm writing on the side, which is a vikings and vampires romantasy! I'm OBSESSED with this story, and will be revealing more about it soon. For now, I can say that it is sexy, dark, and the heroine is a viking through and through. The pub date for this book will be in late 2027, so this will be an epic slow burn for all of us. (Muahahaha)

Coaching Corner

Have you ever wanted to write a book, but felt like you couldn't do it because...

You're not a good writer.

Or... you don't have time.

Or... you're not creative enough.

Or... you couldn't focus long enough to finish.

I want to point out that these thoughts are pretty unkind. Why are we being so mean to ourselves? If you love stories and it's your dream to write one, then perhaps we could reframe these thoughts into something more positive, like:

Writing is a skill. I learn new skills all the time.

Or... I make time for the things that are important to me.

Or... I am infinitely creative. Look at how many theories I have about the books I'm reading.

Or... I can write in short, 15 minute bursts and still accomplish my goal.

Don't those second set of thoughts feel more empowering? HECK YES.

Listen, if I can do it, so can you.

I started out writing Harry Potter FanFic, not even knowing the I in I'm needed to be capitalized. You know what got me started writing? Reading other HPFF and thinking, "I can do this!" and "I can come up with something better than this!"

Spoiler alert, none of my fics blew up. But something better happened. I started to believe that I could tell a story. I started to understand what it took to finish a book. I started to receive comments on my work from random strangers who either liked it or had questions about it.

If writing a book isn't your thing, cool. Not trying to convert all of you into authors. But if it is something you think about, if it is on your mind, please know that I'm cheering for you, and that you can do it. Start small. Start with fics. But just start. ILY.
